writing

fiction

In 2009 I wrote and illustrated a YA steampunk novel entitled “The Tryskylla Key”. Here is a randomly chosen excerpt that provides some clues as to what might actually be happening to the main character Anna. I took one year off to write the novel. My literary agent from Peter Miller in NYC shopped it to publishing houses. I have shelved the project for a future independent release.

“The Tryskylla Key” -> excerpt -> pages 152–154 -> Anna Walks With Mallory

”Your brother has been kept under a close watch for some time.  We were ordered to follow him and retrieve certain items from him.  He was not considered a serious threat until he went to Japan and that was when his sanity was truly doubted.” Captain Mallory remarked.

“In doubt?” Anna replied. “What do you mean?”  she asked as she looked at his expression.  Captain Mallory no longer looked chipper, in fact he looked rather troubled.

“It was after careful considerations and calculation that my benefactor gave the order that allowed your brother to continue on with his task.” Captain Mallory replied.  “It was not his rightful task to be completed, but rather imposed on himself by Shuehorn.  Your brother’s task was meant for someone else.” Mallory explained.

Here is a song that I wrote for the novel “The Tryskylla Key” simply called “The Flower Alphabet Song”.  The video was made in the early days of YouTube.

I utilized ink drawings placed onto a long running scroll of paper and constructed my own “Cranky Show”. I learned about eclectic storytelling craft through song and art by spending time with “Banjo” Tom Azarian.

marketing copy

One of the tasks that I performed as Marketing Manager for Mini Spa VT/Lotus & Lily was the creation of copy for all sorts of promotional purposes. Here is one example that made a difference for the company and the clientele. A radio advertisement and press release announcing an event honoring local medical professionals from the 2020 quarantine.

Here is the local news coverage on CBS affiliate WCAX in Burlington that broadcast as a result of this effort.

personal essay

My style of writing has evolved over time with my life experiences being a catalyst. Personal essays are what I have been most productive with during the past few years.
